Woman
Packaging and 24 page booklet for the Criterion Collection edition of Godard’s first color film, A Woman is a Woman (Une Femme est une Femme). The film juxtaposes bold visual conventions of Hollywood Technicolor musicals with the everyday lives of its young Parisian characters, centered on Anna Karina as Angéla, a troubled burlesque dancer in love.
Godard’s giddy, playful tone and use of vibrant color are cues in the design, which uses a primary palette and circular motif reminiscent of dancehall spotlights and theater marquees .
Tokyo Story
Packaging and booklet for the Criterion Collection edition of Ozu’s masterpiece.
The Origami-like overlay pattern, which shifts across the packaging in overlapping, fragmenting shards, gestures towards Ozu’s theme in the film: the breakdown of traditional family life and relationships in a changing, modernizing Japan.
Packaging for Ozu’s Late Spring and Floating Weeds.
