The New
School
Brand New
The New School consists of five divisions; Parsons School of Design, Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, the College of Performing Arts, Mannes School of Music, The New School for Social Research, and the School of Public Engagement. The recruitment design system and materials give interested candidates and their families a comprehensive way to understand programs both at a glance and in detail, often including nested sets of course cards. The design format gives materials consistency and allows for variation within the system, so that divisions can each have their own inherent vibe.

A Note From Blue Note
The graphic identity and materials developed for The New School for Jazz are influenced by the work of Reid Miles, who designed hundreds of album covers for Blue Note Records throughout the 1950’s and 60’s.
As in Miles’ work, the use of geometric forms, repetition, changes in scale, and flat transparent color create a vocabulary that's like jazz visualized. Use of fluorescent inks, color mode effects and gradients give the classic look a contemporary edge.
